Trespass Packaway Rain Jacket Review

My winter coat is a big, chunky Trespass rain jacket. It’s really warm, keeps the elements out and has a decent hood. It’s perfect for the school run. When Trespass contacted me and asked me if I wanted to try out something from their range I knew I was going to choose a lightweight rain jacket. Let’s face it the British summertime is often quite wet and I needed something to keep in the buggy ready for those too often rain showers.

I went for this Qikpac Waterproof Jacket in black with a great green trim. Its comes in a little bag so you can pack it away and it doesn’t take up too much room.

Trespass Packaway Rain Jacket

It is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It has elasticated cuffs which stops the rain traveling up your arms and a really good hood with toggles so you can make it super waterproof.

The pockets are a really good size and have zips, handy if you forget your glasses case and need somewhere to store them *ahem*

My rain jacket has had quite a good few uses in the past month and has been around the country! It has been on countless school runs and been used far too many times for June.  It was in my bag for Britmums Live & Blogtacular and even travelled to Scotland with me to see AC/DC.

It got a good testing in Glasgow as I waited in rain for over an hour for a train and then the same again for a taxi. When I got back to then hotel I was still dry and my jacket has dried out by the morning.

This jacket is unisex I found out in Glasgow when my dad turned up in the same jacket. Yes we were in matching jackets and we rocked them!

The Trespass Packaway Rain Jacket is currently £24.99 and is a must for the summer. It comes in seven different colours and is really good quality. I’m getting OH one next.

Trespass has a great selection of rain jackets, hiking wear and waterproof clothes.

Hotmilk Nursing Bra Review

I have spent the last couple of months looking longingly at the lingerie department every time I go shopping, and getting excited about wearing a normal bra when I get a few baby-free hours.  When I was pregnant, I opted for cheap and functional nursing bras as I was unsure whether I would be able to breastfeed, so 7 months in and I am desperate for something different to my boring black or white options.

That is when Hotmilk got in touch, I popped on to their website and fell a little bit in love.

Hotmilk’s mission is “to change maternity and nursing lingerie the world over by revealing the sexy woman inside the loving mother”.  They test their designs with real pregnant women to make sure they are comfortable and have loads of special features to make sure they are ideal for use in pregnancy and nursing.  They have a really nice website that is easy to navigate and a great Fitting Room page, that is a massive help when measuring and looking for guidance on what to buy and how to adjust it to fit.  What I really liked is their “Men Only” section, which talks men through how to buy us lovely ladies a gift including hints on getting the size and style right.  A link has been sent to Daddy Bear, but I am still waiting for something pretty.

I received my Navy Show Off nursing bra in AHM1 (2)the post and I was really pleased with it.  It has wideshoulder straps and back straps, and the back adjusters have 6 positions, ideal for your changing figure.  The fabric is really soft and comfortable, for day or night wear and the cups are designed so that you do not have any seams to irritate or rub. I found the bra to be really supportive and made me feel a bit more confident about my figure again.

The cup has an A-Frame design, which helped me feel a little more covered while nursing in public.  Although the cost of these bras are a little more than I would normally spend, I would definitely invest in some more from the Hotmilk designers as they are sexy, supportive and comfortable; 3 words I never thought I would put together for a nursing bra.

Check out the website here.  There is a sale on now and free standard delivery in the UK.

Let me know, which is your favourite?

Pram Glam with Persil Non-Bio & Grace Woodward

During the Summer I was invited to a Pram Glam event with Persil Non Bio. It aim was to show us great ways to feel like yourself after having a baby using some top fashion tips from Grace Woodward.

One of the things people forget to tell you about having a baby is that period afterwards where your maternity clothes no longer fit right but your body is not ready to fit into your pre pregnancy clothes. To be fair it’s not something new mums are bothered about right at the very beginning but when things start to calm down about 3 months in a lack of flattering and practical clothes can be quite disheartening.  I really struggled after having BG, I was never a small lady but my stomach after a c section was terrible and I haven’t been able to wear proper jeans since.

What I needed was stylist Grace Woodward to share her wonderful insight with me.  Grace shared with us some great tips on out to feel glam but practical at the sometime, especially for those that are breast feeding. Having not long had her baby she was the perfect person to host the event.

“Having had my little boy six months ago, I have struggled with the overhaul my wardrobe needed to help me look and feel great. I’ve compiled these style tips as I want mums to give themselves some attention too, so that they can celebrate their bodies and this new chapter in their live.  After all, there’s nothing more beautiful than self-confidence and the joy that comes from being a new mum.” Grace Woodward

Her tips were great and even though my baby is now 20 months *sobs* they apply to me as well.

My favourite ones were:

The Wrap Dress.

Silky fabrics are great when your skin feels delicate and sensitive and should be the perfect treat item for your new wardrobe. Pick a patterned dress to hide spills and choose a wrap style for ease when breast feeding

I love wrap dresses they are really flattering for most body shapes. I need a few more for autumn.

The Patterned Scarf.

Although you may think that block colours will ensure all eyes are on you, they are actually fantastically complementary. Pair with a patterned scarf for a chic look that will hide stains (which are bound to end up around your neck just as you leave the house…)

I have a large collection scarves and I love wearing them.  They keep me warm, cover my wobbly bits and make a good cloth when your child needs a wipe!

We saw the tips in action and some lovely new mums  modelled some outfits for us while I sipped champagne! It’s a hard life I know.

I came away with some great advice ( as you can see I need it!) and a lovely scarf. A big thank you to Persil Non-bio and Grace Woodward.

You can download your own copy of the Pram Glam guide which has all the tips in it here.

Creating a Autumn Capsule Wardrobe #SP #Shop #Cbias

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

The weather is turning cooler and its time to start digging out the warmer clothes. Well if I had some I would do. I had a huge clear out when we moved in March and threw out a lot of clothes. I picked up a few bits for summer in the hope that I would be a lot slimmer by now and would buy a new autumn wardrobe. However I am still carrying a lot of baby weight and don’t really want to spend a lot of money when the clothes won’t fit me in a few months. So I decided to create a autumn capsule wardrobe with what I had already and just add some accessories to tie them all together.

I thought a capsule wardrobe would be best for me.

I want to:

  • Be able to get dressed quickly in the morning as we have the school run 5 days a week.
  • Be comfortable in what I am wearing. I still have a 7 month old to run about after.
  • Look good. I am fed up with looking frumpy.

I had a good sort of of my wardrobe and was left with these items.

Selection of Jackets and Cardigans

I had already bought a new pair of winter boots as mine has fallen apart and a new leather satchel.

I just needed some scarves and some jewellery to complement them all. I had seen that Sainsbury’s had launched their Autumn/Winter collection so had a look online and was really inspired. Me and OH took a trip out to a store to do some shopping, you can see our trip on this Google + album.

I bought two scarves, a necklace and a bracelet add those to the pieces I already had I have a lot of options.

My Essential Items for Mums this Summer

I have already shared my essential items for kids this summer. We mustn’t forget ourselves mums!

Here are my essential items for us mums

Sun Cream

As mums we are often guilty of slapping the sun cream on the children but forgetting ourselves.  I burn really badly so I am just careful with my skin as I am with the girls.

I use Boots Soltan All Day Cream for my face. It doesn’t block your pores like standard sun cream, I use it instead of face cream during the summer. For the rest of my body I use Reinman P20 it’s like oil but it’s not greasy. I like it as it’s an all-day protection, allowing you to get a little colour but you don’t burn.

With these I slap them on in the morning and don’t have to worry for the rest of the day.

Keep Hydrated

Running around after the kids can be thirsty work. How many times have you packed a drink for the kids but forgot yourself?

OH recently bought me a Brita Water Filter bottle to take on the school run as it’s now a half hour walk for me. Its fab! I don’t really like the taste of tap water and keep a jug of filtered water the in the fridge so this is perfect to take out with me. It holds a decent amount of water.

Big Sunglasses

I like big sunglasses for many reasons such as I find they give better coverage from the sun and the also hide a multitude of sins. My friend Super Amazing Mum once told me the greatest tip, when you are looking rough pop on a big pair of sunglasses and slap on some red lipstick and you will look glam. You have no idea how often I do this!

Summer Bag

You need a good sturdy bag for summer that you pack full of sun cream, drinks and snacks but still looks great. I had a little search online and this is my favourite.

Songbird Canvas Messenger Bag by Edition

Songbird Canvas Messenger Bag

A little while ago I asked on twitter would you disown me if I wore Crocs. I can’t repeat what they said.

I then showed them the picture and asked them even if they looked like this?

They all changed their minds. They are really comfy to wear even the wedges which I was a little worried about. The have the same insole as standard Crocs which make the comfy. I have to say the pink really isn’t my colour but they great for in and out of the garden.

I have it good authority that Cheeky Shoes are also very comfy which is good as I bought myself 4 pairs this week!

What?? They have a sale on they are £5 a pair.

What are your essential summer items mums?

I was sent the Crocs to review. The rest of the items I purchased myself apart from the bag which is on my wish list!

Clothing Review: Zalando

Zalando is an online shop which is packed full of fashion and home interiors. It is relevantly new to the UK but I think it’s about to be a firm favourite in many homes.

I was given £50 to spend on whatever I wanted. I needed some new clothes after having Little Miss so decided to treat myself to an outfit.

After browsing for a quite a while (there is a lot of choice) I decided on a dress. I used sidebar to drill down to what I was looking for as there are 10,600 dresses to choose from!

I went for an Anna Field Jersey Dress in purple £19 in the sale.  I loved the colour and the detail at the front. It also has ¾ sleeves which I prefer as I have flabby arms.

Zalando Dress

I wanted a pair of shoes to go with it so after a search I found these White Birkenstocks £26 in the sale.

Going through the checkout process was painless and now all I had to do was wait for them to arrive. You get free delivery on all orders and it should take 3-5 days.

There was a little issue with my order; one of the items had been moved to another warehouse so it took 10 days for mine to arrive. I was informed all the way along but it was a bit annoying to wait so long.

They came well packaged and I was really happy with my purchases.

Zalando Outfit

The dress is really comfy to wear though it has highlighted that I really need to lose my belly. I love the cross over detail on the bust. It washed really well and didn’t shrink or discolour.

The Birkenstocks are great I already own a pair so I knew what to expect.

Overall I was impressed by the site and its range if items, you could easily lose a few hours on there. I was more than happy with my items once they had arrived.
