In August We Love…..

Lil Sis L.O.L Dolls

The girls were over the moon to receive once of these to open. We did a Instagram live and I totally forgot you couldn’t download it afterwards *face palm*

They had a great time opening the doll and had even more fun plunging her in iced water to make her pants change colour!

It has 5 layers which includes a secret message sticker. It also comes with a large accessory  and a small accessory. The ball it comes with also turns into a keyring which is rather fun.

There are 45 to collect and cost £5.99

Yoga Babies by Fearne Cotton and Sheena Dempsey

Little Miss was sent a copy of the new books from Fearne Cotton and it is gorgeous. The illustrations by Sheena Dempsey are stunning and the book reads well.

Little Miss made me read it 12 times in a roll and is now obsessed with trying the yoga poses the children do in the book.

Yoga Babies is available from the 7th September.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cloudy Apple juice

Cawston Press has joined forces with Penguin Books and The Very Hungry Caterpillar for their new apple juice water. The juice comprises 50% Cawston Press apple juice and 50% water.

The girls loved them as i knew they would and they do love apple juice. They have been great for picnics and day trips and they would be great for lunch boxes if you send juice cartoons in with your children’s lunches.

It doesn’t contain sweeteners and is not made form concentrate.

They are available from Ocado, Waitrose and Tesco and cost £1.89 for a pack of three.

Bellini Popsicles

Grown up ice lollies!! I picked these up in Aldi for £2.99 and they are divine and very alcoholic.

They are also available in Gin & Tonic.

What have you been loving this month?

Back to School with Poundland

Its not long until the little darlings are back at school (yay!) and that means back to school shopping (boo). Lets face it that can be painful and expensive, current research showed on average we spend £186.24 per child!!

That is a lot of money!! Thankfully Poundland have an excellent range of back to items that are not only great but oh so affordable. Whether your child is starting pre-school, primary, secondary or college Poundland have you covered.

They sent us a small selection of items to try out.

BG nabbed the highlighters and notepad and Little Miss got the Finding Dory colouring pencils and I may have hidden the metallic paint *ahem*.

They spent a happy half an hour playing with it and BG has put hers away ready for the start of term. The colouring tube of pencils is in my bag ready for when I am out with Little Miss to keep her entertained and is super handy.

Poundland actually have a huge selection of back to school goodies including some awesome Neon stationery (which would look great on my desk) , super cute weekly planners  and the lovely Secret Life of Pet pens.

Poundland Back to School

Don’t have a Poundland near you? Don’t worry you can now buy online, you don’t even have to face the shops.

I’d get in quick before it all sells out.

We Went Back To School with JD Sports

Just before BG went back to school JD Sports contacted me and asked us to review an item from their back to school range. BG was in need of some new trainers for the school run so it was perfect for us.

BG either bikes or scooters to school. If I let her wear her school shoes they get totally ruined so on the school run she wears trainers and we change them over before she goes in.  BG is getting quite particular with her clothing and shoes and after looking at every trainer online she choose these adidas Originals Dragon trainers £32.

I have to say they look awesome on!

BG loves the colours and tells me they are really comfortable to wear. They have been worn on the twice daily school run and she wears them at the weekend and they are still in really good condition.  I find the Velcro straps so convenient when we are swapping her shoes over at school much easier than laces.

The JD Sport site is easy to navigate and the shoes arrived in really good time. They have a great selection of school bags, sports equipment and coats in the back to school range. The prices are really reasonable.

I will shop with JD Sports in the future.

Getting Organised With Paperblanks 18 Month Planner

BG started school last week, my maternity leave ends at the beginning of next month and OH is about to start a new role at work where he will be between two stores. It’s going to get busy and complicated! So when Paperblanks asked if I want to review their 18 Month Maxi Planner (£16.99) I couldn’t say no.

I do love Paperblanks, I have a small notebook which I carry around to write down anything creative that pops in my head, so I knew the planner would be lovely.

Paperblanks 18 Month Planner

Here are my highlights:

  • It doesn’t look like a planner. The maxi which is what I have comes in different designs. You can also get the Midi (£14.99) and the Mini (£12.99).
  • Its 18 months which allows you to plan well ahead.
  • There is a quick glance calendar at the front and then a month by month section and then a day by day break down. I have already popped in the half terms.  It’s great to see at a glance what is going on and then I use the more in depth day to day to plan posts etc.
  • It has holidays and international dates
  • It has an address book at the back.
  • Clothing sizes, measurements, and temperature conversion tables
  • World time zone chart
  • Travel planning memo page
  • Birthdays and important dates memo page
  • Extra note pages
  • It contains a lot and is not too big, a standard book size so it can slip into your bag and not take up too much space.

If you want to get organised this year I recommend a Paperblanks 18 month planner.

You can buy Paperblanks online at www.paperblanks.com

Be quick because once they are gone they are gone!

My Essential Items for Children This Summer

Summer Essentials

It’s hot, hot, hot at the moment which generally means hot, grumpy children! It is hard to make sure your child is kept cool and sunburn free but with a few key items it can be a doddle.

Here are my essential summer time items for children:

Sunblock

I go a bit overboard on the sunblock with my girls but the thought of them getting sunburnt makes me feel quite ill. Getting sunburn can increase your risk of getting skin cancer and with two members of our family having skin cancer in the past few years I would much rather be overcautious.

When choosing sun cream for children always go for the highest SPF. Also check their UVA rating the higher the number of stars the better.

Suncream

I use mainly use Boots Soltan Once for Kids; it’s really thick so I put it on BG before she gets dressed. This is a great one if you are going to be out all day as it last 8 hours. I reapply after playing in water and to the face after eating.

I was recently sent SunSense to try out and it’s great. It’s the number one sunscreen in Australia. We have the Toddler Milk Roll On and it goes on a dream. It absorbs really quickly and is not greasy and of course the most important this it protects BG’s and Little Miss’s skin from the sun. The roll on now stays in my bag for top up when we are out.

Sun Hats

Once you have slopped on the sun cream then slap on a sun hat this will protect their head, face and ears. I prefer the floppy ones and they give bigger coverage.

I bought a BabyBanz sunhat from Little Sunflowers a few years ago and it’s still going strong.  They block out up to 97% of UVA and UVB rays. I also like that they are adjustable so you get a few years out of them.

Sun hat

SnoozeShade

For parents of babies and child in pushchairs get a SnoozeShade! You can use them on any pushchair; I have used mine on my Stokke Xplory and Sliver Cross Surf this week.  This sunshade is like no other it fully protects your child from the sun, you can use it a variety of ways and it is a 100% times better than a parasol.

Snoozeshade

Little Miss has been kept protected and cool this week under hers. I was sent one for free this does not affect my view I was going to buy one myself.

Drinks Bottle

Make sure your children are kept hydrated all day. I like Sistema bottles; they rarely leak and don’t break even after BG has dropped it about a 100 times!

BG drinks a lot of water so I get a large one, its perfect for preschool and days out.

What are your essential items?

I was sent a bottle of SunSense and a SnoozeShade to review, the others items I bought myself. All opinions are my own.
