Win a One Year’s Subscription for Disney Junior’s Appisodes

Disney Junior is often on in our home. BG’s current favourite is Doc McStuffins she now wants a clinic in the garden! Last year it was all about Jack and the Neverland Pirates which lead to great Pirate birthday party.

Last week Disney UK announced the launch of Disney Junior Appisodes, a groundbreaking interactive app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch that combines viewing and interaction with Disney Junior’s TV characters and well-loved stories.

Disney Junior Appisodes offers true interactive viewing, allowing fans 2-7 to touch, tap, swipe, tilt, shake and talk their way through various fun-filled activities embedded into some of their favorite Disney Junior shows, allowing families to experience and interact with their favourite characters and take them wherever they go. The first Disney Junior Appisode, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, is free to download in the App Store, with the Mickey and Donald Have a Farm Appisode and Jake and the Never Land Pirates Appisode, featuring ‘Hide the Hideout’ and ‘Captain Hook’s Hooks’, available to downloaded from £2.99.

Following on from the recent success of the Doc McStuffins chart topping app, future Appisodes are planned for Doc McStuffins and also Sofia the First in the coming months.

I have a One Year subscription to giveaway to one lucky winner. The winner will receive voucher codes which will allow them to purchase the additional Disney Junior Appisodes released over the next year.

MakeTime2play app on iPhone

MakeTime2play app on iPhoneiPhone Screenshot 1

Price: FREE

Available from itunes

Initial Reaction: User friendly app offering search options for play ideas.

  • Well thought out app with informative nuggets such as the benefits of “play”, how to use the app and further online details of the company behind the idea.
  • Search functionality is by age, number of players, play setting and duration offering lots of flexibility.
  • If you don’t like the sound of the play idea that is suggested you can “shake” for another idea.
  • Play idea is shown with the benefits of the idea (further details of this can be found using touchscreen) and really clear instructions.
  • The play ideas that it sourced were really quite good! Some of them I found quite obvious but if you are really stuck for ideas and just want a little inspiration it is a really useful tool.
  • Free so nothing to lose by trying it!

  • Some people may find the play ideas a little limiting. The choices weren’t particularly extensive and nothing too ground-breaking but they are simple and useful ideas. If you don’t like the look of what is suggested you can just shake for other options and they give you a starting point.

Value for money? Amazing! Great tool as it is free and definitely worth trying out particularly if you are feeling uninspired!

Overall Reaction:  Great! My 2year old and 5 year old love to play and we spend lots of time outdoors on nature walks, picnics etc so it was useful to see new ideas when we are indoors – such as making masks and other fun ideas.

Price: First episode free, other 3 cost £2.99 each

Available from itunes

Suitable from:  5+

Initial Reaction: Great reaction. My 5yo son uses my phone to play games and occasionally reads books on it too. This is a story with a difference, as it has a great soundtrack to accompany.

  • Beautiful animations – great colours and clear drawings are used to amazing effect.
  • Fab soundtrack (as already mentioned), catchy tunes and not annoying even after repeated play!
  • The story addresses a number of important themes, so is very educational and thought provoking. It tackles evolution, ecology and extinction in a sensitive way which provoked lots of questions from my 5yo.
  • Great how the story is split into three separate apps and also the first is free so you can try before you commit to buying any more.
  • Ideal for all the family.
  • High quality production.
  • Each story is around 10-20 minutes so a good length to keep interesting.

  • None – this is a great story to keep school age children (and adults) amused .

Value for money? Good, this is the average price for such apps.

Overall Reaction:  At 5, my child is on the younger age group that the story is intended for so he didn’t get as much out of it as an older child. Nevertheless we all enjoyed it and watched it over several evenings. I am also very confident it is something I think we will revisit again in the future.
